بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

96:1بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
Read: In the Name of your Lord who created.

96:2خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
Created man from a clot.

96:3اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
Read: And your Lord is the Most Generous.

96:4الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
He who taught by the pen.

96:5عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Taught man what he never knew.
6
96:6كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَى
In fact, man oversteps all bounds.

96:7أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى
When he considers himself exempt.
8
96:8إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى
But to your Lord is the return.
9
96:9أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى
Have you seen him who prevents?
10
96:10عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّى
A servant when he prays?
11
96:11أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى
Do you think he is upon guidance?
12
96:12أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى
Or advocates righteousness?

96:13أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى
Do you see how he disbelieved and turned away?

96:14أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى
Does he not know that God sees?
15
96:15كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ
No. If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock.
16
96:16نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
A deceitful, sinful forelock.
17
96:17فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ
Let him call on his gang.
18
96:18سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ
We will call the Guards.
19
96:19كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ
No, do not obey him; but kneel down, and come near.
